The attached document on “Access to Environmental Information” provides easy access to environmental information available on the EIB website or which can be obtained on request. It also addresses information that is subject to exceptions on access.
Public access to information, which is held by the Bank, is governed and promoted by the EIB Public Disclosure Policy (March 2006). The Disclosure Policy is currently under review to encompass all relevant provisions of the Aarhus Regulation ((EC)N°1367/2006), applicable as from 28 June 2007. The provisions of the Bank’s Public Disclosure Policy will be interpreted in conformity with the provisions of the Regulation, insofar as these apply. In case of divergence in the environmental field, the provisions of the Aarhus Regulation will prevail.
The Aarhus Regulation allows the application of the provisions of the Aarhus Convention on access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters to EU institutions and bodies. The Regulation aims to help the public to be more involved in environmental matters and to contribute actively to the preservation and protection of the environment. It calls for public access to information either following a request or by active dissemination, in particular through the website.Copyright © European Investment Bank 2010
