EIB in the USD bond market

EIB's USD funding programme is a major building block of the Bank's presence in the international capital markets. The Bank maintains a regular presence in the market and is responsive to investor needs. EIB's USD debt strategy is underpinned by the following attributes:

Liquidity - All recent EIB USD benchmark bonds are issued in global format with a typical minimum size of USD 3 billion in the 3-10 year maturity segment and USD 1-2 billion in longer tenors. The Bank currently has USD 52.5 billion of global bonds outstanding (as per end 2007).

Transparency - EIB's USD bonds trade on TradeWeb, Market Axess, Bloomberg, EuroMTS and Brokertec. Real-time price indications* for the Bank's USD benchmarks are also available on EIBUSD01 on Reuters and at EIB<GO> on Bloomberg.

Diversification - EIB's USD debt is also issued in the form of private placements, structured notes and retail targeted deals mainly into Japan and Europe.

EIB's USD bonds are mainly issued and documented either through Shelf Registrations with the United States Securities Exchange Commission and the Ministry of Finance, Japan or off the Bank's Debt Issuance Programme.
