Volume 14 of the EIB Papers has been launched. Divided into two issues, they contain research presented at the 2009 EIB Conference in Economics and Finance, "R&D and the financing of innovation in Europe". Distinguished scholars from the EU and the US examined the role of investment in R&D and other intangibles for innovation and growth, highlighted the importance of access to finance for innovative firms and discussed policy-relevant issues such as fiscal measures to boost R&D spending, the role of patents in the innovation process and the importance of technology transfer and venture capital in commercialising inventions. The EIB Papers are published each year by the Economic and Financial Studies Division of the European Investment Bank.
