Business Unit Risk Management Directorate (RM), Transaction Management & Restructuring Department, Counterpart and Contract Monitoring and Review Division

The successful candidate will work as part of a team. S/he will be in contact with the Bank’s Credit Risk, Origination/Lending and Legal teams and, for due diligence, with lending counterparts.

Responsibilities

 EIB’s mission is to further the objectives of the European Union by making long-term finance available for sound investment. It is frequently among the largest debt providers to infrastructure, environmental, industrial, and research projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of borrowers located mainly in the EU. The main counterparts to be assessed are: corporates, banks, sub-sovereigns and public sector entities. The sector and riskiness of the assigned transactions will reflect the successful candidate’s experience and specialisation.
The successful candidate will :

  • Prepare, according to an agreed programme, financial analyses of counterparts to assess their credit standing
  • Review their compliance with contractual obligations
  • Respond to required contractual waivers or amendments
  • Ensure the effectiveness of guarantees and security granted to the Bank

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably in economics/finance/business administration, preferably complemented by post-graduate studies
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ professional experience in financial analysis or credit risk assessment with a financial institution or rating agency; exposure to international financial markets and corporates and/or banks would be desirable
  • Experience with counterpart rating criteria
  • Experience in evaluating financing transactions and knowledge of loan documentation are essential
  • Excellent knowledge of English and good command of French. Knowledge of other EU languages, in particular Italian, Portuguese or Spanish, would be an advantage
