Credit Risk Officer (Corporate, Public, Infrastructure Division)

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide credit opinions on proposed operations and follow the credit quality of a highly diversified corporate and public portfolio in accordance with the Bank’s Credit Risk Policy Guidelines (CRPG) and RM/CRD procedures
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Bank’s Credit Risk Policy Guidelines (CRPGs) and RM/CRD procedures to ensure that risks assumed by the Bank are in line with approved policies

Responsibilities

This post is for a Credit Risk Officer able to work from inception on several operations in parallel, including more complex operations, and able to work autonomously within a short period of time on all aspects of work

  • Assume responsibility for a large diversified portfolio of loans and counterparts
  • Analyse credit issues of transactions, including credit quality of counterparts and security
  • Prepare independent credit opinions on investment proposals and associated risk pricing
  • Validate internal ratings for new counterparts and propose loan gradings for new operations
  • Review risks and mitigating measures in close co-operation with Lending and Legal Directorates
  • Give clearance on draft term sheets and/or legal documentation from a credit risk standpoint
  • Following signature, prepare closing notes summarising the main credit risk contractual clauses
  • Ensure validation of the input of data in databases on guarantees, securities and risk covenants
  • Give second opinions on proposed solutions to post signature events, such as contract breaches and restructurings, and on any credit-related changes to contracts in close consultation with other directorates
  • Validate counterpart ratings and loan gradings throughout loan life
  • Propose composition of the Watch List
  • Propose and participate in discussions on changes to the Credit Risk Policy Guidelines (CRPG)
  • Contribute to IRM development, CRD procedures, EV reviews and internal audits
  • Periodically, take lead or participate in sector research and reports

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably in finance or business-related field. Post-graduate education in a related field would be an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years’ recognised professional experience in banking, particularly in a credit function
  • Proficiency in analysing the credit risk of corporate and public entities
  • Experience with credit risk assessment methodologies, rating agency criteria and knowledge of risk-pricing techniques
  • Proficiency in reviewing complex legal structures
  • Knowledge of standard computer applications 
  • Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage
