The European Investment Bank wishes to enhance its contribution to EU environmental objectives and has approved a new transport lending policy in line with those objectives (http://www.eib.org/projects/publications/eib-transport-lending-policy.htm). In this context, the EIB is looking for transport specialists for its Projects Directorate.

The Projects Directorate is responsible for the identification, appraisal (technical, economic and environmental) and monitoring of viable projects, as well as for sector studies. Formed of multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and economists, the Directorate is organised on a sector basis and supports the lending activities in and outside the EU.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the viability of projects and programmes in the transport sector, including compliance with environmental and procurement policies.
  • Monitor the implementation of such investments.
  • Track the evolution of the sector, and produce policy and sector papers and briefs.
  • Liase with EU institutions and international organisations on transport policy/sector questions.  Participate in conferences and other sectoral events.

Qualifications

  • A Masters Degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in engineering. A multidisciplinary background including environment (impact studies) and/or economics (traffic studies, cost-benefit analysis) would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the transport sector.
  • International experience, especially in developing countries, would be an advantage.
  • Experience with project finance operations and/or risk analysis. would be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good command of the other. Working knowledge of other European Union languages would be an advantage
