The Bank’s information policy reflects its commitment to EU policy initiatives on transparency and public disclosure of information as well as to the principles and restrictions embodied in Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission documents.
While the EIB is not directly covered by the Regulation, it has responded to the call by the three institutions for other EU institutions and bodies to review their own rules on public access to documents taking account of the Regulation’s principles and restrictions. In common with the “Rules on Public Access to Documents” and the “Code of good administrative behaviour for the staff of the European Investment Bank in its relations with the public”, the following policy principles are derived from the framework:
The EIB has voluntarily applied the Aarhus Regulation on public access to information, public participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters.
